Today, you will not believe it, I had an early start around 10:30. Yesterday’s arrival wasn’t late, so I had time to prepare things in the evening. Also, this heartless, industrialised camping facility I stayed at, required a check out before 12:00.
Since I visited Göteborg already, I just passed through and didn’t see much beside the harbour area. My last bike trip in Sweden, from Stockholm to Göteborg via Falun, ended with the ferry back to Germany shown at the photo. It would have been an early exit strategy for this journey in case something critical on my bike or body would have failed.
Some more pictures from Göteborg.
In a small town further north, I did my daily shopping. This is one of the things I mean when I write “motivational snack”. Every supermarket in Sweden has at least a small such candy shelf.
Leaving the cost paths, the landscape changes into forests and more and more hills. The bike routes are mostly less frequented streets.
Today’s lunch. My body craved for proteins. I got a salad with two eggs and two chicken skewers – That’s two generations of chicken in one meal. I picnicked in the forests.
Vänersborg.
Graveyards are a suitable source for water.
Today’s route was mostly streets and I rode relatively fast (21.3 km/h on average). This trail through the woods was a welcomed change.
The last 20 km were tough and felt like they would never end. My must-have daily average is around 120 km, and I tried to make up a bit for the last two short stages. My optimistic 160 km a day goal, although nearly reached today, is hardly possible for every day.
Tomorrow, I plan to reach Karlstad and will hopefully even leave it behind by some km.
