Stage 8: Varberg – Göteborg, 2015-08-11

After yesterday’s torturous ride, today went surprisingly well. I found a saddle position that was acceptable, and my legs were well rested.

The night and morning were rainy, so I slept long to the wonderful sound of raindrops hitting the tent. I got up around 11:00 and had, you’re guessing right, a late start. Again.

However, I am starting to develop a routine:
– breakfast,
– morning shower,
– packing up,
– grocery shopping (for lunch, road snacks, dinner and next day’s breakfast),
– riding until the evening,
– looking up the next camp site on the route and driving there,
– put up the camp,
– evening shower,
– dinner,
– laundry,
– online activities (GPS upload, blog writing, looking stuff up), and
– sleeping.

Here are just a few impressions from today.

I didn’t do many stops today. Now that the temperatures aren’t that high any more, I can easily manage with 4 litres of water, and also don’t need to eat that much. I guess the body also started adapting.

My goal was to pass Göteborg, but there was no camp site in reach along my route past Göteborg. So I only did around 95 km today and had to go to Lisenberg camping in Göteborg. It’s a rather large and expensive site where I also had to buy a “Camping key Europe” card for whatever reason. All in all 445 SEK for one night of camping, compared to 100 SEK for last night. It is not a bad camp site, but it lacks character.

No equipment paragraph today, but, after hitting rock bottom yesterday, just a simple quote from a friend: “It’s not an easy trip.”
